The 2016 season was an impressive one for the Lions of Little Rock McClellan. The Lions produced a solid 8-4 record and made a playoff appearance in 2016. McClellan has had two solid seasons in a row and are looking to make an even deeper playoff run in 2017. McClellan has potential it is simply getting off to a good start this season.
The Lions’ offense was explosive last season and are looking to continue to show how quickly they can light up the scoreboard. McClellan will have six starters returning on the offensive side of the ball in 2017. A player for McClellan fans to keep an eye on is quarterback Bennie Kemp. Kemp transfers over from Little Rock Parkview, where he rushed for over 130 yards and five touchdowns. The McClellan has plenty of potential on the offensive side of the ball and this could be a unit that helps the Lions challenge for the 5A Central.
Little Rock McClellan will have eight starters returning on the defensive side of the ball. Lions’ fans should keep an eye on Andre Campbell roaming the secondary for McClellan. Campbell racked up over 60 tackles and picked off five passes. The McClellan defense will need to force turnovers and three and outs to beat teams like Pulaski Academy and Sylvan Hills but this should be an extremely impressive defense. The Lions’ defense is solid enough for another playoff berth and possibly a playoff run in November.
The Lions are going to be a difficult team to beat this season. Lions’ fans should expect another playoff run and possibly even a 5A Central title this season. Little Rock McClellan will need the offense and the defense to click early in the season, but this should be a solid team this season.
