CABOT GIRLS PUMMEL MCCLELLAN AT CLASSIC

The Cabot Lady Panthers had an easy time in the first round of their Pre-Holiday Tournament on Tuesday at Panther Arena. The CHS ladies were in control from the outset and routed McClellan 63-28. The game allowed Cabot coach Carla Crowder to play nearly everyone, and a total off 11 different Lady Panthers scored. Four finished in double figures, led by senior guard Allie Grisham’s 12 points. Junior guard Brooklyn Stracener added 11 while Seniors Lesley Roberts and Morgan Westbrook scored 10 apiece. Cabot led 34-16 at halftime, and built a 30-point lead in the third quarter. But McClellan had cut the margin to 51-24 by the start of the fourth to hold off the mercy rule. Still, it wasn’t much longer before the continuous clock was enacted. A Stracener bucket started the clock rolling less than two minutes in, and the Lady Panthers outscored the Lady Lions 12-4 in the fourth. No one had more than five rebounds, but Cabot still pulled down 30 boards to just 24 for McClellan (0-6). Seven different Lady Panthers also combined to dish out 17 assists out of their 25 made baskets. Dasha Braun led McClellan with 13 points. Cabot (4-2) played Searcy on Friday after Leader deadlines. The final round starts at 12 p.m. today and the tournament championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
